We often hear marketing gurus telling you how to compete with your competitors. You need to be the top in order to stay ahead. But getting to the top is not just going head on. There are different ways to gain market share. Niche marketing is one of the best ways to get ahead since you will not be drawn into protracted warfare with your competitors.
Going head-on with competition is a big no-no especially for smaller player and new comer. You need to think creatively to "attack" on and area which is neglect by the others. This may be just a small negligible segment of the market. But once you establish your reputation and trust, nobody can shake you off from there. You will have a "home ground" to expand your business.
If you play team games or watch team games like Football (American) or Soccer, you will know what home ground means. Typically, a team rarely lost in their home ground. They usually can beat the mightier opponent in their home ground. That is called the home ground advantage.
